Grupo Café do Teatro brings together 21 venues in Madeira: beach clubs, cafés and restaurants, nightlife and poncha bars. The site works as a guide. It starts from a search, filters by category and tag, and shows venues as a list and on a map, with the two kept in sync.

Each venue has a quick view and its own page, with opening hours, an open or closed status computed in the Madeira timezone, menu, directions and contact. Experiences link several venues into routes, such as a day in Funchal or a poncha trail. The poncha page opens with a scroll-driven narrative, with an optional 3D scene built at the client's request.

Content exists in Portuguese, English and Spanish. Links to the social channels are curated by hand and stored locally. Nothing is scraped at runtime.

Design

Visual direction.

A warm hospitality guide rooted in Madeira: deep greens, cream, amber and editorial photography of the venues. Typography uses the platform system font, with tracking tuned per size. The header is a translucent layer that content scrolls under, and transitions use springs with no overshoot. The interface responds to reduced motion, reduced transparency and increased contrast preferences.

Technical

Under the hood.

  1. 01

Venues, tags, schedules and experiences live in JSON files behind repositories that isolate them from controllers and views. They can be replaced with database-backed implementations without touching the rest.

  2. 02

A service computes open status from structured schedules in the Madeira timezone and returns locale-independent translation keys.

  3. 03

Locales, route slugs and metadata (hreflang, Open Graph) are defined once in configuration. A test fails the suite whenever any locale is missing a key or a data translation.

  4. 04

Search normalises accents, so "cafe" finds "Café".

  5. 05

Images are local, optimised copies and the site does not depend on the legacy domain at runtime.

  6. 06

Tests cover routes, the contact form, opening hours, the venue repository and translations.
